This application (progesa) uses parameters. These parameter files can be copied and no actual donor information is necessary.
That production data was send was probably because is was the easiest way to give information. No thinking just copying (parameters including, flat data files).

It is a bit frightening that a bloodbank can just give your medical information to another bloodbank. And now all medical testing results of 171.000 donors are roaming out there including private addresses and telephone numbers.

[...] Until you read that last bit… the data would be anonymised whenever possible. That basically means the creation of dummy data as described towards the end of my last post on this topic. [...]

See, I knew Mad Cow Disease would be good for something. They wouldn't take any of my juices, because I lived in the UK during the 90s. Result!

Nope, DSFA data doesn't get mislaid in Mumbasa. It just gets shared around when someone wins the lotto.

And the lengths you will go to Mr Murphy for a pun.

And there was me thinking I'd donate a handy pint or two all for the public good.....

Makes you wonder what other Government Agencies have reams of OUR information floating around out there.
Next thing we'll be hearing about DS&FA records being mislaid in a brothel in Mumbasa (the only thing, in fact, being mis-laid in that brothel).....
